They say life is a journey. You begin from the womb and end in a tomb. Some journeys are long. Some are short. I haven’t decided yet which one I prefer.
We are all adventurers. Each day we live not knowing what will happen next and yet we continue. Though in the end our paths will all lead us to the same destination, we have all taken different roads to take us there. Some more difficult while others are less so. Different roads offer different views and experiences. Each path an adventure on its own.
Life is a trek to the great unknown. Sometimes it offers us a trail easy to follow, with flowers blooming along the way. At times it challenges our resolve and gives us boulders as big as the mountains we mean to conquer. Some of us choose to stay in the shadow of the boulders and forever dream of the mountain but choose not to take another step further. Some say it is weakness while others say it is being practical, others more religious will call it submitting to the will of God. I’d like to think though that my God would like me to scale that boulder and see what lays beyond. I know I am not the only one.
For every difficulty we overcome, we become wiser and stronger. For every difficult trail we had to trudge, we learn to respect life and everything that goes with it.
I am a trekker, just like the rest of the world. I can’t say if I am just starting this journey or at the end of it. Everyday a new trail opens with so many possibilities, both good and bad. I do my best to pick the best trail, though God-knows I am not always right. I have learned to live with the trails I chose. I take one step at a time, onwards no matter the difficulty. Boulders and steep ascents be damned! All I know is that, I will make the best of this journey and I will reach the summit before I take the next big adventure to the great beyond.
